「音楽を通じて自分たちを表現する自由を手に入れたい」という強い思いから、２００９年１月にバンドを結成。その後すぐにライブ活動を開始する。メンバーは、Mark (lead Vo./ G.), Stu (lead G./Vo.), Oli (Ba.), Jai (Dr.)の４人。MarkとStuは兄弟で、彼らは１０歳のときに作詞作曲を始める。特にStuは、父親の影響で４歳の時からギターを習い始めた。Oliは彼らの長年の親友で、Jaiとは姉を介して知り合ったという。影響を受けたバンドは Oasis, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Kinks, Bob Dylan, Rory Gallagher, Paul Weller, David Bowie, The Coralなど。





The Recliners are 4-peice acoustic band from Oxford.  They started gigging soon after the band was formed in January 2009.  Members are, Mark (lead Vo./ G.), Stu (G./Vo.), Oli (Ba.) and Jai (Dr.).  Mark and Stu are brothers, they began to write songs when they were about 10.  Influenced by their father, Stu started playing the guitar when he was 4.  Oli is their best friend, and they met Jai through their sister.  The Recliners are influenced by Oasis, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Kinks, Bob Dylan, Rory Gallagher, Paul Weller, David Bowie, The Coral and many great musicians.  They make music for freedom, freedom to express themselves.

２００９年、ブリスベンで結成された５ピースバンド。自分たちの音楽はダンス／エレクトロ／パンク／ポップ／ロックと広くカテゴライズしている。またメンバーの紹介を、自分の関心事以外興味のないボーカル、髪が異常に長いギタリスト（今は短い）、ドイツ人のベーシスト、アジア人のキーボード、言葉の通り動物的なドラマー、と説明している。ライブでは、毎回メンバー全員が同じ衣装で登場し、また自らが激しく踊りオーディエンスを盛り上げる。バンドは結成されて間もないが、すでに国内、海外のバンドのサポートも務めており、Neon IndiaやMetronomyのギグをサポートした。最近メジャーレーベルと契約し、ファーストシングルの’These Hands’をリリース。また現在はEPアルバムの製造が進行中。

The Belligerents are 5-piece dance/electro/punk/rock band from Brisbane, Australia.  Formed in late 2009, they already supported not only national bands but international bands.  Recently they supported Metronomy, and they will play with Neon India at the end of this year.  All members wear same unique outfits at their gig, they dance on the stage and bring a lot of excitement to the audience.  You can see them on the following videos.

They are 5-piece pop band from Toronto, Canada, formed in the late 2008.   Their sound, vocals and harmony are airy but groovy at well.  Once I finished listening to their songs, I wanted to listen more and I repeated playing their songs again and again.  It's really catchy.

すごくキャッチーな曲で、カナダのプレスには、夏のビーチによく似合うサウンド、評価されていました。

サウンドは軽快かつグルービーな感じもして、何度もリピートして聞きたくなる感じ。

Foals

ちょっと遅れてしまったけど、Foalsのギグのレポート。

It's was last month but I want to write about a gig of Foals.  Sorry, I don't explain about the band in English this time, but I put youtube videos, my pictures and my video on this post so please enjoy them!!








Foals ---------- from Oxford, England


２００５年結成のダンスロックバンド。メンバーはYannis(Vo./G./Dr.),  Jack (Dr.),  Jimmy (G.), Edwin (Key./Vo.), Walter (Ba./Vo.) の５人。YannisとJackはもともとマスロックバンド（複雑なリズムでギターが中心の実験的なサウンドを作り出すバンド）をしていたが、そこまで人気は出ず、次第に音楽がさらに複雑化したため、「もっと楽しめる音楽」を作るために解散。JimmyとWalterもオクスフォードで別のバンドに所属しており、EPまで出していたが、音楽性の違いからバンドを去った。その後この４人は出会い、ボーカルにAndrew Maearsを迎えてFoalsを結成した。しかし２００６年、Andrewは自身の別のグループに集中するためにバンドを去る。その後、Yannisはボーカルをとり、オクスフォード大学の同級生であったEdwinがキーボードとして加入した。２００７年Transgressive Recordsと契約、シングル、'Hummer'と'Mathletics'をリリースした。またこの年YannisとEdwinは大学を中退してしまう。２００８年、踊れるロックが凝縮されたデビューアルバム'Antidotes'を発表。翌年には、ダンサブルではあるが、より洗練されたセカンドアルバム'Total Life Foever'をリリース。

２０１０年にはフジロックでスティバルで来日。さらに２０１１年２月１５日から１８日まで、東京、大阪、名古屋でのジャパンツアーを敢行する。

ギグはものすごい盛り上がり具合！！さすがはダンサブルロック、最前列にいた私は後ろからものすごい攻撃を受けました。。。特にCassiusの演奏が始まったときには、みんなが前に押し掛けて胃が痛かったです。。。でもすごい楽しかった！　そしてヤニスの暴走ぶりがすごかった。突然アンプに上ってバルコニーに消えていったり、オーディエンスにモッシュしてきたり！（そのときのビデオが一番最後に貼ってあります）。とにかくめちゃくちゃでした。。。



Their gig was really really cool!!  I was in a front row, and everybody lashed to the front when the band played Cassius.  I was a bit injured but I enjoyed it.  Yannis was really really cool as well, he suddenly climbed on amplifiers  and he disappeared into the balcony.  Moreover, he moshed to the audience from the stage!! I took a video of it so you can watch it at the bottom of this post.  First see photos below.

ステージに戻ってきたヤニスは、Tシャツと靴がなくなっていました。そして私はギグの帰りに「ヤニスの靴とったーーー！！」と彼の靴を持ってはしゃぐ男の子たちを見ました。ヤニス、むしり取られてるね！！

        

When Yannis came back to the stage, his T-shirt and his shoes were gone.  And when I left a venue, I saw guys who was shouting 'We got Yannis's shoes!!!'.   Wow, Yannis was so kind to give his belongings to them.  No??

イギリス出身、Razorlight の元ドラマーAndy Brrowsが２００９年に結成したインディーポップバンド。メンバーは、Andyの弟Ben Burrows (Ba), Adam Chetwood (G.), Ben Chetwood (Dr.) (こちらも兄弟), Nick Hill (G.)で、ボーカルはAndyが担当。２０１０年４月１２日に、デビューシングル 'Nun' をリリース。続くセカンドシングル 'Green Grass' は７月１２日に発表され、８月１６日に１４曲入りのデビューアルバム、'Sun Comes Up Again'をリリースした。
今年９月には、MUSEのサポートアクトを務め、その後バンドはUKツアーを敢行した。１２月にウィンチェスターとロンドンで年内最後のギグを行う。




I Am Arrows was formed by the former drummer of Razorlight, Andy Brrows in 2009.  Members are Andy's younger brother Ben Brrows, Adam & Ben Chetwood (G. & Dr.), Nick Hill (G.) and Andy plays vocals and the guitar as well.  Their first single 'Nun' was released in 12 April 2010, and the second ' Green Grass' was in 12 July.  They also released their debut album  'Sun Comes Up Again' on 16 August.  They supported MUSE in the following month, and I Am Arrows also did their UK tour after the support.  They will perform gigs at Winchester and London in this December.

Egyptian Hip Hopのギグのサポートで見て、彼女の音楽とパフォーマンスに釘付けになりました。



I saw Geneva Jacuzzi as a support of Egyptian Hip Hop's gig, and her performance fixed my attention.

Geneva Garvin (音楽活動時の名前はGeneva Jacuzzi)は、ロサンゼルス出身のソングライター、ヴィジュアルアーティスト。２００４年から２００７年まで、ゴシックバンドBubonic Plague のボーカルを務め、その後ソロ活動を開始。暗号めいた歌詞に、官能的でオカルトチックなサウンドとボーカル。これまでに数多くのバンドやミュージシャンともコラボレーションしている。今年、２００４年から２００９年の間にレコーディングされた１５曲をおさめた初のオッフィシャルアルバム、Lambaがリリースされた。現在はヨーロッパツアーを敢行中。




Geneva Garvin (aka Geneva Jacuzzi) is a songwriter and visual artist from Los Angels, California.  She was a vocalist of a goth band Bubonic Plague from 2004 to 2007.  Her songs are full with cryptic wit and puns, sounds, her vocals are mysterious, quasi-oocult and sensual.  She has made a lot of songs collaborated with many musicians.  Her first official album 'Lamba' was released this year.  It has15 tracks recorded between 2004 and 2009.  Now she is on tour in Europe.

Egyptian Hip Hop ---------- from Manchester


２００９年結成。名前はEgyptian Hip Hopだか、彼らはエジプトに行ったこともなければヒッップホップを歌っているわけでもない。とにかく謎のバンド名。まだ若干１７歳にして、かなりの音楽センスとスキルを持っている。メンバー全員が高校で音楽を専攻している。特にボーカル、アレックスはミュージックテクノロジーを学び、自身の音楽でもパソコン、シンセサイザー、ミキシング機材とあらゆるテクノロジーを駆使し、独自の音楽を生み出している。



The band was formed in 2009.  Their name is Egyptian Hip hop, but according to a music news writer, they are never been to Egypt and their music is not hip hop.   Their band name is enigma.  They are still 17 and 18 years old.  Although they said non of them played any instruments before they formed the band, their music skills and sense are totally talented.  They are studying music at a collage, especially a vocalist Alex studies music technology and he uses computer, synthesiser, mixing instruments to create unique sounds and effects.

ギグが始まる前、ふつーに会場をうろついてて、わたしも何度かすれ違ったんだけど、全然オーラがなくて　笑　ボーカルなんてなんてださいファッションセンス！！！っと思ったのに。。。

ステージに立って演奏を始めたら豹変。もう天才だったよ。かっこよくて仕方がなかった。

いろんな機材を使うために、ステージでばたばた忙しそうだったけど、とにかく音作りに対してはもぉプロ。

ギターの子がちょっとおかしい　笑


簡単に翻訳すると、みんなマンチェスター出身でそこでかなり音楽を勉強している。まだ高校生だから、ギグでかなり学校には行けてないみたい。でも、もともと音楽専攻だからそれも勉強に役立ってる。基本的に音楽はボーカルが作っている。バンドを始める前はみんな楽器なんて弾けなかったけど、上達してきている。ボーカルはベースの子をさして、彼は次のジミヘンドリックスになるよ、なんて言ってます。








ちょっとローキーなエレクトロビートと、ちょっとけだるいボーカルに所々弱いメロディー、好きな人は病み付きになるサウンドでしょう。

今すごく一押しのイギリス新人バンドです！！カール・バラットのサポートで見ました！！


This is a band I really want to recommend you to have a listen!! I saw them when I went to see Carl Barat.








The Heartbreaks ------ from Morecambe, Lancaster/ Manchester


２００９年結成。７０年代後半から８０年代前半のポップ／パンクミュージックの影響を受け、メロディアスでノスタルジックなサウンドを持ったバンドである。彼らの出身地モアカムは、イギリス内で生活水準が悪い５０の場所の一つに数えられている。しかしバンドは自分たちの音楽を作るには「ロマンチックでインスピレーションを与えてくれる最高の街」と評している。結成して１年あまりであるが、すでに多くのギグを行っている。サポートとしても、Hurts, Jack Pañate, The View, Carl Bratのギグに同行している。




The band was formed in 2009.  Influenced by  pop music and punk music in late 70s and early 80s, they create melodious and nostalgic  sound.  Morecambe is regarded as one of worst places to live in the UK, but the band says Morecambe is very romantic and inspirational seaside town to make their music.  The Heartbreaks have just started their music career but they have already played lots of gigs and supported Hurts, Jack Pañate, The View and Car Barat.

ロンドン出身。２００４年に結成。ボーカルのブレインは、もとはドラム担当だったが、キーボード担当のタマラがバンドを去った後、ボーカルとキーボードを担当するようになった。２００５年、ファーストシングル’Zoo Time’をリリースし、２００６年までに多くの楽曲を作成、同年ファーストアルバム、’Making Dens’を発表した。２００８年にセカンドアルバム’Twenty-One’をリリース。現在、今年の７月に発表したサードアルバム’Serotonin’をひっさげ、Serotonin World Tour 2010/11を行っている。


他メンバーは、ウィリアム（G.）、カイ（Ba.）とカピル（Dr.）。またバンドにはブレインの父、ヘンリー（G./Ba.）も参加しているが、ツアーには同行していない。


ブレインは生まれたときから二分脊椎症を患っており、松葉杖なしでは上手く歩くことができない。２００６年にフジロックで来日した際、症状が悪化し、病院での治療を余儀なくされた。その後回復は果たしたが、国外ツアーは延期していた。しかし、今年２０１０年世界ツアーを敢行、来年の１月１１日にまた来日が決定した。ツアー最後のライブ地は日本となっている。

Mark Ronsonのギグにも参加していた、Rose Elinor Dougallについて、ちょっと紹介します！

イギリス、ブライトン出身。２００３年に、３ピースガールズバンド、The Pipettesを結成。２００７年にはサマーソニックで来日。しかし、２００８年に自身の音楽を追究するため、もう一人のバンドメイトとともにThe Pipettesを脱退。現在はバンド、The Distractionsとともにソロ活動中。２０１０年８月にデビューアルバムをリリース。



From Brighton. Formerly she was known as a member of The Pipettes, but she left the band in 2008 to pursue her own music career.  Now she's working on her solo project with The Distractions. Her debut album was released in August 2010.  Recently, she also joins Mark Ronson & The Business Intl.




私はThe Pipettes が大好きで、もちろんサマソニも一番前の列でしっかり見ました。しかし２人が去ってしまってすごく残念でした。

でも！こうしてソロ活動を続けてくれてて、ギグで見ることができてほんとによかった！！


こちらの曲もとってもすてき。







I really loved The Pipettes, well I still like them too, but I was so sad when Rose and Becki left the band.

But they are still making great songs and we can see them at gigs! I just saw Rose's new band as support of Mark Ronson. Her music was cool.

 イギリスのDJ、ソングラーター／プロデューサー。ロンドン出身だが、ニューヨークで育つ。母親（作家）の再婚相手がForeinger のギタリスト、Mick Jonesだったことから、幼い頃からミュージシャンとの交流があった。ショーン・レノンとは１３歳のときから親友。マイケル・ジャクソンの家にもよく遊びに行っていたが、友人に信用されないと思いそのことはずっと内緒にしていたという。２人の妹（双子）Thamansa RonsonはDJ、Charlotte Ronsonはファッションデザイナーと、一家そろってアーティスト。

大学卒業後、DJとして名が知られるようになり、１９９７年からは音楽プロデュースを始める。

いやー、マーク・ロンソン、とにかくかっこ良かったです。動きはちょっとコミカルで面白かったです。このシルバーヘアー、結構不評らしいんですが、かっこよかったですよ。

I heard that many people don't like silver-haired Mark Ronson, but he looked really cool!!!

とにかく楽しかったです！

Anyway I really enjoyed their gig!!!
